“Environmentally Friendly Significance of Bamboo”
Replacing wood with bamboo is the best way to protect the forest
effectively. Bamboo flooring has become something of a phenomenon
among U.S. Homeowners in recent years. Bamboo is widely considered
as good for the environment. Based largely on the high growth rate
of the bamboo plant, it is today promoted as a “green building material”.
Reports show that oak takes 120 years to grow to maturity and that
Bamboo can be harvested in 3 to 7 year cycles, regenerates without
need for replanting, and requires minimal fertilization or pesticides.
Today, since Bamboo flooring is recognized as a green building
material by the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program, with
the result that builders can receive credit toward green building
certification for the incorporating bamboo into a structure.
